A starfish!
Today we went to the Wild Fig Cafe for a spot of lunch, then for a walk down the beach at Waterman’s. Much to our excitement we found this (clever) starfish lounging around in a rock pool.
Dave took this shot, so posting this as Photo Project day 20 might be construed as cheating by the more pedantic of my regular readers (they know who they are). So tomorrow I’ll post some more.
That is a nice find. its almost like a good luck charm to you guys finding that. That would be a good day 20 (18 without cats) π

Ahh, how cute! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a starfish except for in AQWA or something!

It was a pretty exciting find! We’re thinking of setting up a sea tank and getting some starfishes…
I’ve never seen one either Simone, although with all the rocks down at Watermans it’s definitely the right place to find them. I’ve been down there years ago at sunset when all the little crabs come out to feed.

If you are serious about keeping starfish I think your will be in for a shock on how hard they are to keep in captivity.

Yeah, I know that anything marine is a pain in the arse. I used to have freshwater fish, including a proper siamese fighting fish setup and seeing the sickly lethargic-looking ones in the pet shops makes *me* sick.
I have always wanted to try keeping seahorses too – you know, it’s the girl/pony thing again π

Hard to keep, but aren’t they so cute?
That one looks a little sick though :S

Seahorses!.. girl you are asking for trouble it wasn’t to recently that the Aquarist (?) at AQWA workout how to keep seahorses and breed them too. Usually seahorses and starfish (yeap those too) in captivity where on death row. But now they know how it keep them, ,its not cheap or easy. They are very fussy with respect to their environment.

Matt: He/She looked alright to us… submerged in a little pool, sitting there doing what starfish generally do… nothing!
Gary: I reckon if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly π

Ha Ha… starfish want you to think they are doing nothing. Secretly they are planning world domination.

Shhhh! Why do you think we named our business after them?

Now you’ve put your foot in it Gary…
I’m quite happy with a cat as a pet though, Starfish sounds like more trouble than it’s worth.
